Caravan Park Electrics

Commissioning and Test & Inspection

Electrical engineering on caravan parks is complex.  You need a competent engineer who understands your park.  The best person for this is already working for you.  Adding a team member to your electrical skills gap will not only compliment any outsourced engineer to cover emergencies or general maintenance, but also commission a newly sited caravan home.

What is Testing and Inspection?

If the caravan park owner rents out a caravan holiday home he has a legal duty to ensure the satisfactory condition of the electrical installation for continued service.

To ensure the efficient performance of electrical and protective equipment Electrical Standards Bodies recommend the electrical installation undergoes a Periodic Inspection and Test (PIT); with the issue of a report on the condition of the installation for continued service.

Caravan holiday home and residential park homes are sited in a variety of weather conditions, temperature changes and ground types. Weather, temperature change, ground conditions, dirt, condensation and use all play a part in the gradual deterioration of the electrical installation in a caravan home. Leaking electrical equipment can cause a fire. Faulty electrical protective equipment can result in a fatal electric shock.

Caravan park owners who sell electricity to their customers have a special duty to ensure that both holiday and residential homes have up-to-date documentation relating to electrical condition.
